In the last decade, the rocketry and aerospace industry has been developing rapidly. Observing the successes of companies like SpaceX, Blue Origin, Rocket Lab, and other similar launch providers, it is clear that this sector will continue to grow at an ever-increasing pace.

We at HRDT feel that it’s time Canada take its place in this new and exciting field. That is why we have decided to become one of the first college teams to compete in a rocketry engineering competition to be at the bleeding edge of Canada’s rocket development.

This year, our goal is a launch at the national Launch Canada competition up to 10,000 ft using a commercial off the shelf engine, learning the ins and outs of rocket development along the way. The final goal of this team is to design and manufacture a hybrid rocket engine capable of delivering our rocket to the Kármán line at 100 km, the border of space.
