Overview
SmartBins is an Internet of Things (IoT) project that aims to improve the efficiency of waste collection and disposal. It automates the process of checking whether the bin is full, ensuring the lid is closed when not in use, and inspecting the bin periodically to make certain it is dry. Remote monitoring of the bin is available via an Android® application of the same name. The SmartBins application allows users to view the current garbage level, open and close the lid, and view the bin’s moisture level.
