I've always had a passion for design, but this program helped me understand how to use my existing skills, as well as the knowledge that I've accumulated over the years to create a signature for myself. My favourite areas to design are residential and hospitality spaces, and I gravitate towards a modern, minimalistic design approach.
Located in the heart of Toronto, in Trinity Bellwoods District. The Escape Smart Hotel is a great tourist spot for travellers on the go to take a moment to relax and unwind. It is a smart hotel that reduces human interaction which allows for guests to enjoy a full vacation experience regardless of the circumstances.
Escape zones are areas within a larger space that are isolated from the public. They provide a sense of privacy while still being a part of the bigger picture. These spaces can be in the form of an art installation, pavilion, or even just a seating nook. By integrating smart technology into these elements, the escape experience gets taken to a whole new level.
The level one floor plan showcases the main escape element. It is being used as a reception area on one side, and a lounge on the other. The rest of the space is an open concept using curvilinear design, which allows for everything in the space to flow together. The second level is where all the guest suites are located. Two accessible suites are to the left of the space, and in the middle are a couple of meeting and conference rooms that can be used by the guests.
The longitudinal and cross-section highlight the millwork and escape elements within the space.
These renderings highlight the use of technology being utilized in the hotel. They show how the chosen materials reflect the digital elements or absorb the light to create the perfect atmosphere for each space.
