Completing my Architectural Technology Advanced Diploma and working in the industry for several years, I had the opportunity to oversee multiple projects; small and large scale. This fueled my desire to explore the finer details of Interior Architecture and Design. Humber College’s Bachelor of Interior Design program has allowed me to steer my career aspirations in a targeted direction. I am particularly passionate about human-centred, sustainable, and meaningful designs. I am excited to begin my journey as an Interior Designer and continue to develop my skills.
The Student Satellite Centre is a holistic experience where students can enhance their academic and career opportunities in a supportive and engaging environment. This facility aims to implement zones for students to; work, relax, and play. This provides a comprehensive and well-round experience for students and staff alike.
The concept of negative and positive space theory has been applied to the design of the Student Satellite Centre, generating a functional and transformative space. The positive space refers to a filled or used space in the design. The intentional use of the space would channel various activities.
As for the negative space, it illustrates an empty space used to highlight circulation and create a sense of movement between environments. Investigating the initial forms constructed various zones, while each zone for students contributes to the overall post-secondary experience.
