Humber Hosts Summer Exchange Program from Parul University

Parul Students

Humber College was thrilled to welcome 9 international students from India’s Parul University on June 22 as part of the summer exchange program between both institutions.

Students from Parul’s Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering programs will be taking one of two courses as part of their curriculum, offered through the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology in the areas of structures and workshop practices over a period of six weeks.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for the Parul students to have an exceptional learning experience at Humber, and also become more familiar with Toronto’s multicultural society and Canadian culture as a whole through the many leisure and study excursions planned during their visit,” said Dr. Bill Angelakos, Associate Dean, School of Applied Technology. He added that this was made possible from discussions he and Diane Simpson, Dean, International, had with Dr. Devanshu Patel, Vice President and managing trustee of Parul University during a trip to India in January of this year.

Building on an existing memorandum of understanding with Humber’s School of Business, various opportunities between both institutions were identified, including a summer exchange program and a block transfer opportunity for Parul students. This pilot program may allow qualifying Parul students to transfer into Humber’s Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, and Sustainable Energy and Building Technology programs at a second year level.

We look forward to giving students an introductory look into Canada’s design and building practices. Students will experience theoretical, applied, and experiential learning through classroom instruction, industry guest speakers, lab testing, and visits to prominent architecture in Toronto, said Elizabeth Fenuta, Faculty in the Architectural Technology program and the instructor for the structures course.
