My name is Nick Beneventi. I am an Industrial Design graduate located in Bolton, Ontario. I am passionate in providing possible solutions that may help a vast amount of people with their daily struggles within the world. These past five years of studying design provided me with a variety of skills gained such as problem solving, creative thinking, teamwork and perseverance/determination. I'm extremely proud of what I accomplished so far and can't wait to pursue further to enhance my skills and develop as a designer.
The four essential pillars encompass human-centric design approach and the understanding of full-bodied, three dimensional physical interaction of user, product and environment. The projects generate innovative solutions using research-driven, evidence-based designs which focus on the user experience.
The largest need for commercial plumbers is a safe work environment and a way to reduce themselves from injuries.
In combating this issue Exo X has the potential to impact thousands of workers.
Exo X is designed with the user in mind.
The main goals of the product are for the user to experience an new efficient way of working. Important user factors pursued within the product include ease of use, comfort and simple usability.
Most commercial plumbers endure a eight hour plus workday.
A main importance when designing this product is how the user feels as they use the product throughout the day. Support components, interactions such as lifting and specific movements were heavily thought through in the design.
Exo X considers sustainability with respect to minimal impact disposal, efficient lifecycle, the use of responsible materials and applying a battery/carbon fibre recycle initiative program.
Commercial plumbers are susceptible to injuries from tasks endured during workdays. Injuries occur even with safety rules and regulations in place. With heavy lifting, repetitive movement, material transportation and machinery operation to list some, plumbers job tasks have high injury rates and health risks. Due to these job tasks being physically demanding, wear and strain on the the body is common. According to the Bureau of Labour Statistics, 37% of all days taken off include back pain and sprains as well as injuries to the muscles, tendons and ligaments. Long Term workers within the industry commonly experience muscular injuries that cause lifelong pain and discomfort. A fast efficient workflow is key within this field of work, safety and health sometimes gets pushed aside. How may we mitigate physical injuries for plumbers in a commercial setting? Preventing these injuries early on is key. Exo X plans to enhance a safe work experience for workers while providing an efficient way of working.
