Hi, my name is Kristie Bulbrook; I am an industrial design student from Humber College. I love to make things and collaborate with others to create something incredible. In my free time lately, I have enjoyed doing small projects that improve things in my family and my own life. I have also been slowly working on a 1/12th scale dollhouse as well as making lightsabers from scratch. I am most anxious to learn new skills and gain experience in many things in the years to come.
The four essential pillars encompass human-centric design approach and the understanding of full-bodied, three dimensional physical interaction of user, product and environment. The projects generate innovative solutions using research-driven, evidence-based designs which focus on the user experience.
F(lower) adjusts to the user's needs while gardening, providing support when needed.
F(lower) is designed to make gardening more accessible to people with arthritis.
F(lower) is adjustable to fit people of all shapes and sizes.
F(lower) is made with materials that are recycled or can be recycled. After the life of the chair, it can be taken apart and recycled.
Gardening is an activity enjoyed by many, but for people with various forms of arthritis, the activity is not fully accessible. This is a problem since gardening is a good form of exercise and has shown to be very therapeutic. The F(lower) chair assists the user in moving from standing to sitting to kneeling and crouching and back to sitting or standing. The chair also supports the user when they are holding a position for prolonged periods. The user’s arms and hands can always move freely, enabling the gardening to be completed unimpeded.
