The four essential pillars encompass human-centric design approach and the understanding of full-bodied, three dimensional physical interaction of user, product and environment. The projects generate innovative solutions using research-driven, evidence-based designs which focus on the user experience.

Neo Ink takes an innovative approach to tattoo workstations by creating cohesion and adaptability among the multiple tools an artists needs to unlock their creative potential.
This problem-based design solution ensures that the artist is prepared for any interaction that might arise with a client, building trust with one another by ensuring that both parties are comfortable and entertained.
Human-Interaction & User-Centric Design
Neo Ink is designed to interact seamlessly with both an artist and their client at any given moment.
The artist rail system allows for complete customization of tool positioning based on a specific client's artwork. The clients comfort is a top priority, with three unique seating configurations each accessible through physical and digital integration.
Ergonomics & Human Factors Design
The tattoo experience requires an intimate and physical interaction between an artist and client.
With each client's unique tattoo placement, an artist must expose themselves to unnatural bodily positions to find the optimal drawing angle on a live subject. Neo Ink ensures that an artist is supported through that movement and that their tools and reference imagery is located within a comfortable range.
Sustainability & Social Responsibility
The tattoo process poses many constraints on material selection to ensure that the workstation remains sterile and easily cleaned.
The health of the artist and client must be considered in all design decisions. As a result the fabrics must be anti-microbial, while the construction of the product endure wear and tear from the rigours of daily usage and cleaning practices.
Neo Ink - Re-imagining the Tattoo Workstation
Project Statement
The tattoo experience requires an intimate and physical interaction between an artist and their client. Sessions last on average between three to five hours, with some exceeding beyond eight. During that time artists expose themselves to unnatural positions, constantly working around the constraints of the client's body and the placement of their artwork. The burden of ergonomic strain and spatial disorder must be addressed to ensure the longevity of an artists' career. Neo Ink aims to unleash an artist's full creative potential by providing a comprehensive and adaptable workstation. It creates an environment that focuses on the longevity of an artist's career, while facilitating an intimate and comfortable interaction with their client to provide a memorable experience.
