Overview
This capstone project aimed to improve and implement the Student Action Form (SAF) feature in Humber College's Hloc 2.0 by migrating from a monolithic architecture to a microservices model. The project team, consisting of skilled software and web app developers, utilized their knowledge of DevOps and networking to build the solution without any external financial assistance. The project was divided into multiple sprints, following the agile methodology. Key components included an Angular frontend, a Spring Boot backend, and an Oracle Database. REST APIs were created for CRUD operations on SAF data and integrated with Humber's database and JIRA ticketing system. The final deliverables were a production-level web page, complying with security requirements, and periodic progress reports provided to the industrial partner. The migration to a microservices model offers enhanced security, robustness, and scalability, ultimately improving the user experience for Humber College students and staff.
