Overview
In this project, we have developed a WiFi positioning system using Raspberry Pi. Using the signal strength of a layer 2 frame transmission, we developed a tool to somewhat accurately locate the transmitting device in a physical space. Using a combination of python, Linux command line, and a small suite of networking tools we created and tested multiple approaches to locating a device solely with IEEE 802.11 radio information. Our hardware requirements are very simple and only require a machine that can run Linux and a network adapter with a monitor mode capable chipset.
