Advanced Manufacturing Project

Overview

The project creates pallets of 1oz Play-Doh which is wrapped by our self made wrapping machine. Cups are loaded on pallets and removed by the cell. The cups are transferred onto a conveyor that is equipped with a colour sensor that detected the lid colour and communicates to our PLC to storage our cups into our storage system. Cups are moved using a pneumatic gripper that is attached to an electric slider. Orders are placed though a HMI panel that sends the order to a robotic arm that picks up cups and creates the pallet. Once the pallet is complete, a pneumatic slider will transfer the stacked pallet to our wrapping machine. The wrapper is self contained and hook the wrap, maintain tension, and cut the pallet wrap all without human intervention. A person is only needed to pick and place pallets going in and out of the automated work cell.
