Hello to whoever is visiting my page. Nice to meet you, my name is Hannah! Growing up as an artist, I have always loved to draw - especially for others. Gifting art to people, whether it be a sketch or something handmade, and seeing their faces light up always gives me this feeling of satisfaction and pride. Now pursuing industrial design, I strive to design for others and help find ways for people to overcome any challenges they may face in their lives. I hope to continue making people happy through my work as both an artist and industrial designer.
The Four Essential Pillars for Design Excellence
The four essential pillars encompass human-centric design approach and the understanding of full-bodied, three dimensional physical interaction of user, product and environment. The projects generate innovative solutions using research-driven, evidence-based designs which focus on the user experience.
Enhancement of Human Lifestyle
The aureum nail station is modular, accessible and promotes efficiency.
Designed to provide an open space where nail technicians can customize their setup according to their work habits and workflow, aureum is made up of modular parts that can be moved around and accessed at various locations around the technician's workspace.
Human-Interaction & User-Centric Design
Nail technicians have complete control over how they wish to set up their workspace with the aureum nail station.
In four simple steps, aureum switches between states suited for manicures, pedicures, or both depending on the service being provided. Clients no longer need to move from a pedicure chair to a manicure table during an appointment. Technicians will have less work to clean and prepare their station between appointments.
Ergonomics & Human Factors Design
The aureum pedicure chair and technician stool contains adjustable parts designed to accommodate a wide range of users seated in various positions.
Aureum's form changes to follow the user's seating position, helping them maintain a natural working and seated position for long periods of time.
Sustainability & Social Responsibility
Aureum introduces a sustainable approach to a nail station with a long product life.
Made primarily of recycled aluminum, polypropylene (PP), and apple leather, aureum is water and stain proof, easy to clean, and durable. A long lasting workstation allows nail salon owners to invest in reliable and sturdy equipment without sacrificing the appearance, comfort, and safety that both technicians and clients look for.
Improving Nail Salon Work Environment
Project Summary
Current workstations in nail salons do not accommodate the working conditions of nail technicians. Designed for the comfort of the client, manicure tables and pedicure chairs often lack a comfortable working and storage space for nail technicians. Working in these types of spaces for prolonged periods of time have caused work-related injuries that are ergonomic, physical, and biological in nature to occur in technicians and worsen overtime. The lack of initiative to improve the current work environment in nail salons will degrade technicians’ performance and quality, place technicians and clients at further risk of injuries and health problems, and negatively impact client satisfaction, affecting the salon’s business and technicians’ reputation. Aureum responds to these issues by providing a comfortable, accessible, and modular space for technicians to work in that suits their habits and preferences.
