This vintage farmhouse kitchen was designed for a retired couple. The project's challenge was to transform the small, dark kitchen into an open-concept space, integrating living and dining with functionality, trouble-free in use and adaptable to the body changes that age brings. That way, the couple can relax, have fun while cooking and receiving friends with comfort. Most of the Universal Principles of Design were considered for this project. The U-shaped layout provides an open space with accessibility, effective flow and an easy reach of the appliances, utensils and work areas considering the minimum effort. The cooking/gathering area has flexibility in use. Its two levels allow those who are cooking to interact with others sitting in front of it. Neutral and warm colours mixed with natural textures like straw, wood and iron, rustic and vintage details will bring the sense of a country kitchen for this space.
In this project, my team and I were challenged to create a COZY HOUSE for a family where each member has a different style. I was responsible for developing the design of the Ensuite and Powder Room. After listening to their wishes for the new house, we decided to choose the warm European style being marble, stone, dark wood and panelling details, the design's key. Always focusing on functionality but also on welcoming aesthetics that could please all family members. It was a challenging project but a very pleasurable one as we had the opportunity to put our knowledge and experience into practice in a real project.
Honolulu is a Hawaiian origin name, which means "calm harbour" and translates exactly the vibe for this interior decorating project. Considering the client's lifestyle, my partner and I thought of this project as an artistic and breezy concept with simplicity. The client has roots in the indigenous culture. Therefore, the use of patterns, natural textures, and integration with nature is the project's primary focus. The design is based on the simplicity of lines and shapes, with a touch of sophistication in the materials and architectural details.
