The idea of the project was to create a space for leisure where art and books are the main purposes. For that reason, the program has developed into a lounge art exhibit area and a reading zone. Eclecticism was the concept used, therefore, a mixture of straight and organic lines, patterns, and colours was applied in different elements such as furniture, wall details, or even the art indeed. The project takes place in a garage, which means that everything should be removed if the client wants. Hence, it was considered to design removable wall panels and a removable electric fireplace that separates the zones. The color palette is a mix of bold colourrs throughout the whole design, orange and yellow cushions on the blue sofa, a dark pink womb. The concept allows the design to customize the fireplace and the bookshelf, both items combine geometries.
Indigenous heritage is important for the family, therefore space allows a dynamic design through the house. Different kinds of patterns, straight and organic, were used in decoration pieces to let space show the indigenous concept through it. The design uses different materials such as wood, stone, and metal which in some way gives the design a modern rustic style. The kitchen adopted an open concept and it is connected directly to the living room. Though the main floor, the ceiling uses black decorative metal beams and it is done by wooden planks as well. All cabinetry is done with lighter wood and the countertop with white marble. The principal bedroom ensuite follows the material pattern of the whole house design. It was a requirement to have a wet room, therefore, this is connected with the shower and it is all done with wooden planks as well. Ensuite hardware is all with gold chrome material that creates a contrast with the wood. - Marble on Island and Countertop - Wooden Planks in the Ceiling - Use of Stone on Wall
Since this is a design for a family with Canadian Indigenous heritage, the design must involve this concept through all the zones. The main element in the design is the room divider located at the main entrance (foyer). That room divider is done with black iron and frosted glass, and it came from an Indigenous pattern.
The purpose of this project was to create a space that is open with diagonal and straight lines with some pop of bold colours. Utilize clean lines along with a mixture of textures and materials. The open space is required to cope with the extensive social life Cindy and her children have. Language is been used through the design using architectural features such as the diagonal line and the way how it creates movement when in the group. This type of line is applied in the main elements of the design, the millwork, and the stairs. The Colour palette is neutral sober but elegant, it answers to the natural colours of the materials applied. However, a touch of bold colours on the furniture and details have been applied as well. The use of metal, wood, and concrete, resulting in a modern industrial style.
A mix of traditional with a touch of Modern. Selected nuances create a European interior and architecture timeless; elegant but at the same time it brings the home into the 21st Century. Small hints of Turkish and Portuguese tiling, plaster molding, deep colors, and marble finishes all pay homage to the Victorian and Florentine interiors. While fixtures such as rain showers, stainless steel appliances, and wrought iron give the home an edginess that reflects a modern-day home. Being true to the Trans design aesthetic, we have chosen simple and functional design elements with a focus on symmetry, line, and texture while also respecting the design principles of pattern, contrast and balance.
