I would describe myself as a very creative and hardworking individual. I found my passion for art at a very young age and later discovered my passion for design. Having the opportunity to create different spaces has ignited my passion for design even more. I also always put my whole heart and all my effort into every project I do. Being able to attend this interior decorating program at Humber has been an honour and I have learned so much.
I normally do a lot of designs with fresh and neutral colours, and I wanted to make sure that I incorporated that in this project, but I also knew I wanted the house to have a playful and creative aspect to it. Considering there are a lot of children that are in this house I want to make sure that they had room to grown and become who the are. Also, I wanted the house to be colourful, but I also want to make sure that the house remained tasteful. I did this by keeping the walls and floor neutral while adding colourful or different furniture and appliances.
After being given the word electric to Inspire my space I had no idea what to do. But after days of being stuck and with tons of trial and error I finally decided that I wanted this space to have an old technology/ mid-century modern theme. With that in mind I split this garage into two separate areas: one side being a comfortable relaxing space and the other being a study space.
After the team got a feel for the space and an understanding of what the clients are looking for, we instantly had a vision in mind. In order to ensure we could include everything that the clients wanted we knew that each space had to be cohesive and in harmony with each other. This entailed coming to quick agreements on flooring, paint colours, crown molding and trim on the walls. Also, by choosing light colours it didn’t just allow us to keep the space feeling fresh while incorporating tasteful amounts of the white marble that the client wants but it also gives us the opportunity to add dark and contrasting accents to the home.
When given this project we knew that it had to be nature inspired but there are so many things in nature to be inspired by. My partner and I decided to stick with a lot of browns and greens because we wanted the suite to remain feeling as natural as possible. Also, we decided to do a large gallery wall of nature inspired artwork so all guests would be taken back by the amazing scenery every time they entered the room.
