This garage transformed into an escape away from home and has become a classy jazz club and bar. Using the principles; line and form, combined with the elements; repetition and scale and proportion, it now an elegant entertainment place. Additionally, the stage and table are portable, and so, this space can easily convert back into a single car garage with plenty of storage.
With a few tweaks and additions such as adding the double sink vanity, walk-in shower, etc. it enhances the following principles and elements: Shape - The variety of shapes enhances visual interest and provides a sense of movement Colour - Due to the lack of saturated colours other than teal, it adds variety and emphasis. This colour also provides a sense of calmness and cleanliness. Rhythm - Due to the repetitive arcs, it creates a sense of rhythm in the room as it is placed throughout the space Emphasis- The teal tiles enhances the space as it provides a focal point within the room. This allows rhythm to stop and provide visual interest.
This project was inspired by the 70s, which became the core inspiration for the final rug design. It incorporates a sense of movement and playfulness through its use of curvy shapes and bright colours. To further enhance the concept, iconic pieces of furniture from the 70s was also used including the Camaleonda Sofa by Mario Bellini and the Bubble Chair by Eero Aarnio.
