This project is a group work renovating a full house for a family of 5. My assigned floor is the basement, with a new design of Rec Room with Bar Area and Home Office. We design to play with accent, colorful and mixed types of furniture. Using different materials and textures helps express the adjectives — vibrant, diverse and vital. Adding wood elements e.g. combining custom textured wood works with functionality and aesthetics protrudes the family’s hobby.
This project is an individual work designing the cottage locates riverside. With no specific client, the goal for this design was to create a bright, open and cozy space for vacation impregnated with the surrounding environment. Blue chevron wood flooring embellished with the same color arbitrary wall paintings present the flowing of river water. Cozy furnishings adorn the space with simple and agile vibes.
The proposed design aims to incorporate aesthetics and functionality in the small laundry room, by using the complementary colour - pink and blue clouds ombre wallpaper to provide a feeling of harmony, which is embraced to express a concept of the sky. The power of watercolour and clouds’ curve shape draw your eye up to create an illusion of a taller space. The innocence pink cabinet colour aligns with the wallpaper over the room. The achromatic colour, white countertop and black hexagon floor tiles create variety, pattern and texture to give visual break to balance the whole vibe. The design evokes sentiments of graceful and softness.
This is a kitchen design to suit both able-bodied and disabled person. The intent of this design is to create an intuitive and customized kitchen that anyone can use. Since Philip lost his leg to cancer in teens, accessibility to kitchen is of utmost importance especially he loves cooking so much. A challenge was to include lower level countertop for Philip to prepare food with reachable shelves to grab items with low physical effort. Philip uses wheelchair and stick alternately and Daisy stands in the kitchen, we need to negotiate suitable height for them to balance their needs.
The design combines the user-friendly of universal products, materials and new technology functionally with aesthetic. Daisy and Philip’s new kitchen embraces their love of adventure, camping, partying, cooking, and Bohemian design, along with their two dogs, Saturday and Sunday. More, the new design aims to provide a neutral tone and inviting atmosphere since they love to invite friends for gathering. The use of neutral wood tones, light colours, and natural elements creates a kitchen where they feel cozy.
