Work Integrated Learning

April 1, 2022

Work-Integrated Learning is in FAST’s DNA and during March National Co-op and WIL Month, we celebrated and shined a spotlight on our students and the hands-on, career-driven education we provide them in collaboration with our valued industry partners.

Welcoming Advanced Manufacturing Co-op Students

In recognition of National WIL & Co-op Day, on March 23 the Co-op Services team hosted a Co-op Kick-Off for the newest cohort of co-op students, from the Advanced Manufacturing cluster.

A highlight of the event was hearing from Ashley Nollner, Electrical Engineering Technology Co-op student. “Co-op brings everything together” said Ashley. “You get exposure to experience you can’t get in the classroom. You get to perfect your resume and interviewing skills. These are important skills to have for your co-op job search and also when you graduate.”

Since Fall 2019, FAST has launched Co-op in 12 Diploma programs across all four clusters and designed the Co-op model for the three Engineering degrees.

We celebrate and congratulate all students who participate in FAST Co-op and work placement programs and who have demonstrated a commitment to becoming future-ready for their career.

Industry Supports Unlimited Potential of FAST Students

Industry donors and FAST students virtually came together recently to celebrate this year’s scholarship recipients!

Hosted by Janice Wojcik, Manager, Work Integrated Learning & Industry Engagement, guests were welcomed by Chris Whitaker, President and CEO, and FAST Senior Dean, Dr. Farzad Rayegani who expressed their appreciation for our industry partners and congratulated this year’s scholarship recipients.

An annual tradition, the event provides an opportunity to thank donors and showcase how their support and dedication helps students work towards their dreams, ensuring they can reach their unlimited potential.

Valued industry partners met and listened to students who shared inspiring and personal stories on how their scholarship helped them on their educational journey that continues to transform their learning experience.
