Congratulations to Architectural Technology student, Flavia Pinto, who won the KEA Charette – the first time a Humber student has won!
The annual KEA Charette in Copenhagen, Denmark, is an intensive, collaborative process that brings together students, community members, and professionals to tackle complex issues.
Nine Humber students traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark, to participate in this year’s Charrette at KEA, held from October 5-12. Working in multidisciplinary teams with students from 10 different countries, they combined their diverse knowledge and experiences to tackle the question, “What is sustainable?”
Together, they developed concepts to support 5 local Copenhagen businesses. The week kicked off with inspirational talks and presentations on sustainability, introductions to the local collaborators, and the New European Bauhaus Compass. Activities included advisor sessions and workshops to support the Charrette work, culminating in final presentations and a grand celebration!
“As an advisor, it was an intense design critique with a group of design students worldwide focused on one architectural project solution. The critique session was an opportunity to work collaboratively for both students and the team of 3 advisors per group. We guided the students to rethink and push the boundaries of sustainability in an urban context. The event allowed design students to experience team idea finding, generate solutions collectively, and test multiple irritative strategies through the integrated design process between group members, advisors, and the modern architectural backdrop of Copenhagen.”
