Humber FAST was a proud partner of National Engineering Month – Canada’s engineering event of the year.
We hosted two engaging events with FAST faculty, staff, a student and industry partners that sparked bold conversations with diverse perspectives.
Humber College Champions Women in STEM
To recognize and celebrate International Women’s Day, a panel of fearless women and supportive men shared their authentic stories and how there is strength in our differences to bring innovation, productivity, and pride to a more elastic workforce. Thank you to Dr. Martine Spinks, Dr. Jonathan Kim, Janice A. Wojcik, FAST Bachelor of Engineering student, Cassandra Birtch, and industry colleague Dr. Daniela Galatro, for hosting an insightful discussion and thought-provoking points of view.
“Women in leadership have already made a significant contribution and continues to make a positive impact on our profession.”
“Diversity in anything brings voices to problem-solving.”
Humber College Drives Inclusive & Continuous Professional Learning
Dr. David Smiderle and industry partner and colleague, Yuka Maruyama, engineering & maintenance manager, Magna Powertrain, Unimotion-Gear, shared the importance of leveraging our diversity and providing all Canadians with the opportunity to gain current, industry relevant skills.
Together, they shared a recent collaboration between FAST Continuous Professional Learning and Magna to design a customized program that increased the competency of its electrical team and delivered them personal and professional growth that is needed for a world of constant change.
“Continuous Professional Learning provides competency-based training opportunities for adult learners where they are able to gain current, industry relevant skills from experienced industry experts in a relatively short period of time.”
