The Centre for Trades and Technology was one of the clusters involved in the Skills Ontario Competition which took place May 6th - 8th at the Toronto Congress Centre. 2000 Ontario students competed in over 68 categories of contests, including Carpentry, Plumbing, Millwrights and Welding.
The Skills Ontario Competition is Canada's largest skilled trades competition. The event also included a Career Exploration Showcase, with over 70 interactive displays where attendees could meet with industry, college, government and labour representatives to get information about training and job opportunities.
Humber College had its own booth, where Skilled Trades staff had the chance to interact with people, make live demonstrations, and inspire the next generation of tradespeople. Humber FAST students participated in different categories and brought home 10 medals.
The winning gold medalists advanced to the Skills Canada National Competition later that month held in Halifax, Nova Scotia. You can view all the winners here.
