The annual scholarship celebration for the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology was held at the Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation on February 11th, 2020. The event celebrated the achievements of students and recognized the generosity of donors who provided scholarships. It was an event that inspired!
The evening event included a reception where guests mingled and took part in photo booth festivities. This was followed by a seated dinner where donors and students had an opportunity to get to know each other and discuss the impact of scholarships on the students’ educational journey.
Farzad Rayegani, Senior Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology, and Chris Whitaker, Humber President and CEO, provided remarks and expressed their gratitude for the support offered by Humber’s donors.
Walter Copping, a second-year student from the Civil Engineering Technology program and recipient of the Toronto and Area Road Building Association (TARBA) scholarship also said a few words on behalf of students:
“I feel very honoured and especially humbled tonight to have been selected as the recipient of a scholarship. I truly could not have earned this without the astounding support from the Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology, including my professors and my peers who continue to push and inspire me every day—to them, I offer my utmost gratitude. Of course, I would also like to thank TARBA, the Toronto and Area Road Building Association, who have very kindly presented me with this scholarship. I’ll leave here tonight motivated and driven through your generosity. It’s because of donors like you that we students can turn our dreams into realities. So lastly, I think I can speak on behalf of the Humber community in thanking you for caring about our success and nurturing the aspirations we hold for our futures. Thank you.”
The Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology was very grateful to its donors, faculty, and staff for their commitment to students, and applauds the incredible accomplishments of the talented scholarship recipients.
