Humber is proud to have the highest graduate employment and employer satisfaction rate of the GTA colleges based on Colleges Ontario’s key performance indicators for college graduates in 2022-2023.

Program Overview

Advances in technology continue to make it easier for us to work, live and communicate with each other every day, and electronic devices have played a major role in how technology affects our lives.

Humber’s advanced diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology will prepare you to work in all fields where electric circuits and systems are found and boasts one of the highest employability rates for graduates.

The knowledge and hands-on skills you gain will help you build a career in new and emerging technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Autonomous Systems, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Systems, medical imaging and electronic product development.

The program takes a system design and integration approach to electronic applications, and you will gain in-depth knowledge and hands-on training in:

  • connectivity and interface design, embedded microcontrollers, IoT integration
  • electronic circuits and control systems
  • industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) instrumentation
  • photonics, fibre optics, microwave links and antennas
  • signal acquisition and processing
  • wireless and networking

The program has been designed in collaboration with an advisory panel comprised of industry experts to ensure you are learning the most up-to-date and relevant skills. We provide you with hands-on opportunities to design analog, digital and programmable circuits and to learn how to embed circuits into smart devices, industrial equipment and consumer products.

There is also a co-op option, enabling you to graduate with industry experience.

Work-Integrated Learning

This program offers an placement. Optional co-operative education placements enable you to apply your skills and knowledge in a work environment and gain valuable, practical experience related to your program of study. You will learn new skills, learn about the world of work and meet people in your profession.

For students who are accepted into the program, two optional co-operative education placements will take place. The first four-month optional co-operative education placement is between Semesters 2 and 3, and the second four-month optional co-operative education placement is between Semesters 4 and 5. There are limited spaces in the co-op option. Therefore, you will apply for the co-op option during Semester 1 and be informed of the process by which to apply. While optional co-operative education placements are not guaranteed, as students are in a competitive job placement market, participating students will receive a wide range of services to help them find a co-op opportunity.

Special Events

National Engineering Month is Canada’s largest celebration of engineering excellence, and this year students from Humber’s Electronics Engineering Technology program teamed up with Humberwood Downs Junior Middle Academy to give middle school students a taste of how electronics technology and green energy are an important part of Canada’s future, and they even got a chance to try their hand at building electronic circuits!

FIRST Robotics Competition 2022

Humber Hosts FIRST Robotics Competition 2022

In partnership with FIRST Robotics Canada
March 5 to 6, 2022

The goal of FIRST Robotics is to empower competitors to be the next generation of leaders and innovators who will go on to tackle the world’s toughest challenges.

Your Career

The demand for high-skill, high-tech occupations will only grow as technology continues to advance and change the way we live and work especially in industrially dynamic regions such as the Greater Toronto Area.

Our graduates work at major organizations such as CTV and CBC; Ontario Power Generation; Hydro One; Rogers, Telus and Bell; and GE Canada, to mention just a few. They put their skills to work in research and development where they build prototypes and test new devices. They are manufacturers’ representatives, technical salespeople, managers and entrepreneurs. They manufacture electronic systems and install, maintain and troubleshoot such systems through their lifecycle. Some of our graduates choose to start up on their own and launch their own businesses.
