The Design/Built Environment comprises the human-made elements of our surroundings such as communities, buildings, and infrastructure. Design, planning and construction contribute to the quality of our built environment, which has a significant impact on our health, well-being and productivity.
With the federal and provincial government focused on implementing climate change action plans designed to reduce greenhouse gas pollution, there is an increased awareness of the important role the built environment can play on energy and resource conservation, providing us unique opportunities to cluster our programs to reflect the needs of industry and the transition to a low-carbon economy. Coupled with the significant, multi-year infrastructure investments made by both levels of government, we project that there will be strong labour market demand for graduates of these programs.
