CAD Software or Building Information Modelling - Two Overlapping Paths to Your Future

Whether you choose to increase your skills with AutoCAD or REVIT, Humber Continuous Professional Learning certificates are recognized across industrial, architectural and engineering fields. The biggest difference in these two paths, is that AutoCAD is a CAD software and Revit is software for Building Information Modeling (BIM). AutoCAD gives you data based on your design objects, whereas Revit gives you data on the construction of your models. AutoCAD is considered best for 2D drawing, whereas Revit is better for modeling and getting cost estimates. However, they are interoperable and are commonly used together to incorporate designs created in AutoCAD within a Revit project. AutoCAD may be used on certain projects or components of a design, while Revit is used to generate BIM deliverables and to enable collaboration with other design disciplines. It is an intelligent 3D model-based process that gives architecture, engineering, and construction professionals the tools to efficiently plan, design, construct, and manage buildings and infrastructure.

Humber Certificates are Designed To Work For You

Humber Continuous Professional Learning Certificates provide access to professionally developed, high-quality certificates with relevant material and resources. A Humber certification shows employers that you have undergone formal training from a recognized institution.

Work While You Learn

  • The Humber Flexible Registration Project is a strategic initiative within the accessible education pillar of the Humber Strategic Plan. It will give students more choice in how, when, what and where they learn.
  • Continuous Professional Learning courses allow learners who are currently employed to upskill or learn a new skill while they continue to work.
  • Courses in these programs are being offered in an online virtual classroom unless otherwise specified (for example lab required components).

Industry-Based Curriculum

  • Students will learn using industry-standard, latest software platforms.
  • Course materials are developed and implemented using innovative teaching and learning practices that keep learners engaged.
  • Those who successfully complete the program are eligible to receive a certificate of completion/achievement from Humber College.

Industry Connections

  • Humber instructors are leaders in their field and bring relevant experience to the classroom.
  • Education that is recognized by employers.
  • Taught by respected facilitators whose recommendations and networking capacity can enhance your prospects, and your networking community, even further.
