Humber offers a variety of scholarships each year.
Humber has a number of transfer agreements with other postsecondary institutions (within Canada and around the world) that enables students and graduates to use their Humber credential to gain advanced standing in another program.

Applications to Humber are made through ontariocolleges.ca. Be sure to submit your application by the equal consideration deadline of February 1. You may apply after February 1, however, post-February 1 applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis depending on the availability of the space in the program. Humber’s Welding Techniques certificate program is designed to help introduce prospective welders to the trade. The program aims to facilitate employment and entry into the apprenticeship program by giving you practical experience with trade regulations and practices. You will gain a solid understanding of the various technical theory and elements of the welding trade. You will be exposed to topics including health and safety, blueprint reading and sketching, applied math, communication, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, introduction to computers, and all position structural welding. You will learn valuable skills by using the latest industry software programs and working in fully equipped up-to-date labs and shops. At Humber, skilled instructors highlight current trends within the industry and strive to duplicate situations that apprentices and skilled tradespeople will see in their everyday working life.Courses Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the program, a graduate will:
Read and interpret blueprints and basic technical documents, reports and specifications to inform welding projects.
Complete all welding work in compliance with current legislation, standards, regulations, guidelines and procedures.
Contribute to the writing of basic technical documents, reports and specifications to inform welding projects.
Plan for and contribute to fabrication projects through the appropriate selection and use of processes, materials and preventive and predictive maintenance.
Maintain and use appropriate measuring equipment and alignment instruments with accuracy, to perform basic technical measurements and welding functions.
Use shop tools and equipment in manufacturing, assembling, maintaining and repairing components according to required specifications and industry standards.
Work effectively and professionally in shop environments, both independently and with fellow workers, company representatives, and other tradespeople.
Set up and safely operate equipment for Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) processes.
Assess weld quality and implement corrective action where required to follow quality control and quality assurance procedures and meet organizational standards and requirements.
Set up and operate equipment for Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) applications and perform these in all positions.
Identify economic, social and environmental sustainability issues that impact the welding trade and use current and emerging technologies to support sustainability best practices in the workplace.
Outline a professional development plan that addresses one’s own gaps in knowledge and skills in the greater context of the welder profession.
Students spend the majority of their time in Humber’s Centre for Trades & Technology which features two full-sized townhomes and dedicated labs for construction, welding, hydraulic, mechanical, home renovation, plumbing, electrical, woodworking and cabinetmaking programs.

Canada currently faces a critical shortage of skilled workers. Skilled tradespeople will be increasingly in demand because of the rapid pace of technological changes and as current workers in the field begin to retire. According to the Working in Canada Report (Government of Canada), employment opportunities for licensed welders will be steady.
Graduates of this program will find a range of employment opportunities through welder apprenticeship programs, as well as positions associated with manufacturing and fabricating, automotive, heavy equipment production, automation, and construction. Self-employment or working in the construction oil industry are also viable options upon graduation.
