WOMEN IN SKILLED TRADES AND TECHNOLOY DAY

The School of Applied Technology was delighted to host over 150 female students from eight GTA High Schools at its First Annual Women in Skilled Trades and Technology Day on April 6, 2005.

These students had the opportunity to visit the technology labs in a variety of program areas including electrical and plumbing apprenticeship, robotics, heating and ventilation, chemistry, industrial design, landscape and wireless telecommunications. This was a extremely successful day and we received only positive feedback from the students and their teachers. We look forward to hopefully welcoming some of these women back as full-time students in a year or two.

Applied Technology has hosted more than six Skilled Trades and Technology Days for mixed groups from High Schools and on May 10th will welcome more than 300 Grade 9, 10, and 11 students to Humber.

A panel of female Applied Tech students gave short presentations and were on hand to answer questions and talk with the over 150 female High School students attending.
