Environmental Engineering

Course Code: CIVL 324

Academic Year: 2018-2019

Students learn about the remediation of contaminated sites - with emphasis on the environmental site assessment process and cleanup of soil/groundwater for residential or public access uses. Students consider the causes and effects of hydrocarbon contamination, transport mechanisms, clean-up criteria. Students compare conventional versus innovative engineering methods of remediation and examine on-/off-site spill contingency plans and responses to environmental emergencies (such as oil/chemical spills on land and into bodies of water).
